December 2023. One of the toughest months of my life.
Returning home from the hardest Expedition we've ever had, I'm checked in the Hospital with very high fever. It's Malaria.
Mental exhaustion, physical toll, and personal life sacrifices because of it.
Over 2 years reliving what went wrong, what could've been improved. We failed at trying to do the impossible: overland Central Africa like we overlanded West Africa. It simply can't be done. It's rough, expensive and a logistical nightmare.
Our approach was all wrong. Central Africa needs to be done differently.
So we got to work redesigning and crafting perfection:
- Direct flights whenever possible. Overland where the distances, borders, sights and roads make sense. Experiencing the region, without suffering in the process.
- Best Hotels. Radisson Libreville, Grand Hotel Djibloho... Life is always a bit better in the best hotels, especially in Central Africa.
- We needed more vibes. Hence why we threw in Sao Tomé and Angola. Portuguese colonies make for more fun itineraries. We'll even explore off the beaten path Principe!
- Nigeria and DRC are too big and messy, so we cut them and will do specific new Expeditions on them soon. Instead, we also added Chad and CAR, capitalizing what we learned from our successful Expedition there last year.
And thus, the new, revamped Central Africa II Expedition was born.
Think of a Pacific of Caribbean Expedition in this region of the World. Best travel family, time efficient, all the highlights, and in the most comfort. This itinerary is 16 days & 15 nights.
The catch: Only 14 spots. And they will fly.
Only for repeaters.
First come first serve.
