US Travel Ban: What does it mean?

Donald Trump needs a headline every day, and yesterday it was the announcement of the new official lists for Full Travel Ban (12 countries) and Partial Travel Ban (7 countries).

  1. If you are a US citizen: this might continue to hinder the power of your passport. You are currently ranked #8, needing 51 on arrival visas and 28 visas (thats 6 more visas than a Spanish Passport at #2). New visa requirements might be introduced, even more expensive fees, and visiting some of these countries might be come more difficult. Make sure to monitor any short term changes!
  2. If you are a EU citizen: With the new travel ban effective June 9, 2025, the list of countries affecting ESTA eligibility has expanded. Travelers who have been present in any of the following 19 countries may now be ineligible for ESTA and must apply for a visa:

Fully Banned Countries (12):

  • Afghanistan
  • Myanmar (Burma)
  • Chad
  • Republic of the Congo
  • Equatorial Guinea
  • Eritrea
  • Haiti
  • Iran
  • Libya
  • Somalia
  • Sudan
  • Yemen

Partially Restricted Countries (7):

  • Burundi
  • Cuba
  • Laos
  • Sierra Leone
  • Togo
  • Turkmenistan
  • Venezuela

In general, regardless of your nationality, we always recommend you apply for a US B1 visa (10 year tourist visa) so that you keep your options open if you need to visit the US for work or pleasure. Apply now for an appointment at your nearest Embassy and avoid last minute stress of a new trip that came up.

If you're looking to create travel stories and live epic life experiences, these are some of the best destinations in the World. Apply for your US visa now, and don't stress about it.

We'll continue to run Expeditions to all these places, and might even get ideas and run an Expedition in 2026 to Myanmar and Laos!

As always, we'll keep you informed of any travel news and help you navigate visas and logistics once you're signed up for an Expedition.
